Large taxi in Barcelona

Six friends land at El Prat at 23:00 with suitcases, or a family of seven heads to the cruise port. A normal taxi will not do. This page gathers the services for a large taxi in Barcelona, ordered with Google data and company websites, and explains what separates a large taxi, a minivan and a chauffeur van.

7 seater taxi in Barcelona

A standard metropolitan taxi takes four passengers, and a larger vehicle can take up to eight. According to the Metropolitan Taxi Regulation (April 2024 version), licences cover five-seat vehicles including the driver. Vehicles of up to nine seats, also including the driver, can be authorised exceptionally.

Minivan taxi in Barcelona

Minivans and vans are the two vehicle types company websites mention for groups. Across the 30 services, all offer 7 or 8 seats according to their websites, 13 mention fixed prices, 6 mention adapted taxis, 3 say they accept pets, 4 mention card payment and 24 state 24-hour service. These are website claims, not our own tests.

Look at how Google categorises each company. Several, such as Royal Falcon Limo and Chauffeur Privé Espagne, appear as chauffeur or limousine services rather than taxis. If you want the official taxi tariff, ask whether the car is a licensed taxi and whether it charges by meter or by agreed price.

• Widest range of capacities and pets: Taxi Ride Barcelona, 5.0 from 82 reviews. Its website names vehicles for 4 to 9 passengers, an adapted taxi, pets and 24-hour service.
• Adapted taxi, pets and card payment: Taxxilo, 4.7 from 35 reviews. Its website says it has worked since 2017 and names vehicles for 3 to 8 passengers.
• Many reviews and three website languages: Taxi Sobre Rodes, 4.6 from 163 reviews, with an adapted taxi, 7 and 8 seats and card payment. Its website is in Spanish, Catalan and English.
• 8-seat van and a 7-seat alternative: TaxiVan, 4.7 from 71 reviews, and Area Taxi Transfers, 4.8 from 227 reviews, with 4 and 7 seats.

Some profiles have few reviews. That is not a fault, but there is less data to compare.

How much is a large taxi in Barcelona?

A large taxi costs the normal meter fare plus €4.60 when 5 to 8 passengers travel. These are the 2026 figures on the IMET fares page:

Our example: six people, 10 km in the city, weekday daytime. One large taxi is 2.80 + 13.50 + 4.60 = €20.90. Two standard taxis with four and two passengers come to 2 × €16.30 = €32.60. At night the large taxi rises to €24.00 and two taxis to €38.80. Waiting and tolls are extra, and traffic raises the meter.

Airport, cruise port and long trips with a large taxi

Always book ahead if you are five or more. Aena says that at T1 the taxi ranks are on floor 0 and that T2A, T2B and T2C each have ranks with and without reservation. It does not mention a rank for large vehicles, so agree the meeting point with the company.

How should you book a large taxi for a group?

Book as early as you can and put numbers in writing. A large taxi is not always free at short notice, and the metropolitan tariff sets a minimum of €8 for services booked by radio or app, according to the IMET. Send the company the date, the pickup point, the number of passengers, the number of large and small bags, and whether a child seat is needed.

Then ask three things: does the vehicle seat everyone including the driver, is the price a meter fare or a fixed quote, and what happens if your flight is late. If the answer is a fixed quote, ask what it includes. Keep the confirmation message so that you can compare it with the receipt at the end of the ride.
