A Barcelona airport taxi from the city centre costs about €29 on weekdays between 8:00 and 20:00 and about €34 at night, at weekends and on holidays, on the 2026 tariff of the metropolitan area (AMB). That is 16.1 km and roughly 23 minutes without traffic. We compare 30 services, rated 4.81 on average over 6,588 Google reviews, and explain what the meter leaves out.
If you land at El Prat at 23:00 with three suitcases, the useful questions are what the ride will cost and where the rank is. A Barcelona airport taxi from the city is an urban trip inside the metropolitan area, so it follows the AMB tariff and not the intercity one. The AMB publishes the 2026 tariffs, and they apply to every licensed taxi in the area.
We would decide before leaving the terminal whether you want a taxi from the rank or one you booked. The rank taxi charges what the meter shows. A booked one may give you a closed price if the company offers it, and 15 of the 30 listed services say they do on their websites.
Barcelona to airport taxi
Between €29 and €34, depending on the hour. This is our calculation with the 2026 urban tariff for the 16.1 km from the centre, so treat it as an order of magnitude, not a quote.

The total leaves out waiting and traffic delays. Tolls are also extra: the AMB says the customer pays the toll in both directions. The €4.60 supplement for 5 to 8 passengers is added on top. Special nights (23 to 24 June, 24 to 25 December and 31 December to 1 January, from 20:00 to 8:00) carry another €4.60 on the T-2 tariff.
Taxi from Barcelona to Barcelona Airport
Allow about 23 minutes without traffic. At rush hour on the ring roads the trip can take much longer, and the meter keeps running while you stand still. If your flight leaves early, we would book the taxi the evening before and leave with a margin: a booked taxi comes to your door, a rank taxi does not.
Leaving from Sants station adds a €2.55 origin supplement, according to the same AMB page. If you are heading to the port instead, see our page on the taxi from the airport to the cruise port, which has its own fixed fare.
Where do taxis wait at T1 and T2?
At T1 the official ranks are on level 0, in front of the arrivals area, and Aena keeps taxis with a reservation apart from those without. At T2 the three terminals (T2A, T2B, T2C) each have an arrivals rank with a reservation stand and a no-reservation stand, according to Aena's taxi page.
Aena states that the only official Barcelona taxi is black and yellow. If someone offers you a ride in the hall, ask whether it is a taxi or a VTC (licensed private hire with a driver, the licence Uber and Cabify drivers use), and what the total will be.
Is there a fixed fare to the airport?
Only one official fixed fare exists: €46 between the Moll Adossat cruise terminals and the airport, in both directions, with all supplements included. For everything else the AMB applies the meter, with a minimum of €21 when the trip starts at the airport.
The AMB also lists tariff T-3, a fixed price booked only through apps, with a minimum of €8. Of the 30 services in our list, 15 mention fixed or closed prices on their websites. Our rule is to ask for the amount in writing and to ask what it covers.
Which taxi suits luggage, children or reduced mobility?
According to their websites, 26 of the 30 services offer 7 or 8 seats, 12 mention wheelchair-adapted taxis, 4 accept pets and 22 state 24-hour service. Before booking, say how many of you travel, how many bags you carry and whether you need a child seat, a ramp or space for an animal.
For groups see our large taxi in Barcelona page, and for travelling with a dog the pet friendly taxi page. To see how each charge is built, read our guide to Barcelona taxi fares.

When to book ahead
Book if your flight leaves before 8:00 or you travel with more than four people. Most listed companies are in Barcelona itself (19 of 30), with the rest in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Molins de Rei and a few other towns of the area.
If your journey starts further out, such as Sitges, the fare depends on whether the town belongs to the metropolitan area, and its page explains that. When you are ready, use the booking form: we send it to up to three companies from the list. Give your terminal, flight time and number of bags.
