You are flying in with a dog in a carrier, or taking a cat to the vet and back, and you do not want a driver to turn you away at the kerb. That is why we keep a short list of services that say they accept animals. This page covers the pet friendly taxi in Barcelona options we found and the questions that make the booking safe.
Taxi with a dog in Barcelona
Ten companies in our list say on their own websites that they accept pets, but there is no official rule we could confirm. The IMET fares page does not mention animals at all, and the intercity tariff lists no animal supplement. So whether a driver takes your dog is something to agree before the ride, not at the rank.
Tell the company three things: the type and size of the animal, whether it travels in a carrier or on a lead, and the pickup time. Ask for a written confirmation. Our how we rank page explains how the list is ordered.
Pet taxi in Barcelona
None of the companies below is a specialist pet-transport service; they are taxi and transfer companies that mention pets on their websites. Google files most of them as taxi services, and one, taxi badalona aeropuerto, as a transportation service. If you need a vet run with no owner, you need a different type of service from the ones we list.

Our shortlist for travelling with a pet
- Top rating and a range of vehicles: Taxi Ride Barcelona, 5.0 from 82 reviews. Its website names vehicles for 4 to 9 passengers, an adapted taxi and 24-hour service.
- Pets and an 8-seat vehicle: Taxi360BCN, 5.0 from 37 reviews, which names 8 passengers and airport trips on its website.
- Pets, adapted taxi and card payment: Taxxilo, 4.7 from 35 reviews. It states fixed prices, 24-hour service and operation since 2017.
- Many reviews: Taxi Barcelona 7 Plazas, based in L'Hospitalet, 4.7 from 2,175 reviews. Its website says it has operated since 1985 and names vehicles for 6 to 9 passengers.
- Near Badalona: taxi badalona aeropuerto, 4.9 from 97 reviews, with 24-hour service stated on its website.
Two entries deserve a caution. Taxi 24 Horas has 735 reviews averaging only 2.3, and Radio Taxi 033 has just 3 reviews, so there is little to judge it by.
What should you ask when you book with a pet?
Ask three things: will the driver take the animal, where will it sit and is there any extra cost. A short checklist:
- Animal and carrier: say the species, size and whether it travels in a crate. A large crate needs a bigger vehicle, so check the seats and boot space.
- Price: confirm in writing whether the animal is included. The official fare pages we checked show no pet supplement.
- Payment: five of the ten websites mention card payment.
- Timing: nine websites state 24-hour service, but book ahead for early flights.
- Extra passengers: a vehicle carrying 5 to 8 passengers adds €4.60 on the metropolitan tariff.
Which pet friendly taxi suits which trip?
Match the vehicle to the animal and the luggage, not just to the company. A small dog in a carrier fits on a seat of almost any car. A large dog, a crate or several bags need a minivan or van, and all 10 websites in this list mention 7 or 8 seat vehicles. Ask which one will arrive.
For airport trips, Aena says T1 has taxi ranks on floor 0 and that T2A, T2B and T2C each have ranks with and without reservation. Its page does not mention pets, so settle the animal question with the company beforehand rather than at the rank. A booked car with a named driver avoids being turned away with your pet at the kerb.
For routes outside the city, look at the pages for Girona and Sitges, where the intercity tariff applies and the driver should confirm the return and the tolls.
Where are the pet friendly taxis based?
Eight of the ten are based in Barcelona. One is in Badalona and one in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. If you live in either town, the local company may reach you faster, but check that it covers your pickup address. Nine of the ten websites state 24-hour service, so night pickups are possible, although you should still book in advance.
What if the driver says no?
Ask the company for another car rather than arguing at the kerb. Because we found no official rule either way, a refusal is a matter between you and that company. This is one more reason to book with a service that names pets on its website and to keep the confirmation message. If a booking made through our booking form goes wrong, you can contact the company directly from its profile.
How much does a taxi with a dog cost from the airport?
There is no pet charge on the official tariffs we checked, so the fare is the usual one. Our calculation for the 16.1 km between El Prat and the centre, with the airport supplement, gives roughly €29 to €34 depending on the tariff, before waiting and tolls. See Barcelona airport taxi and Barcelona taxi fares.
For a larger vehicle, see large taxi in Barcelona. For a private car with driver, whose price the company sets, read private driver in Barcelona. Once you are ready, use our booking form, which reaches up to three companies, and mention your pet in the notes.
