You land in Terminal 2 at 22:30 and your hotel or meeting is in Girona, almost 115 km away. A taxi from Barcelona Airport to Girona is the most direct way, with one common source of confusion: Girona has its own airport, and this page is not about it. We cover only the ride from El Prat to the city of Girona.

The trip leaves El Prat de Llobregat and ends in Girona, so it is an intercity service. The AMB says the Generalitat's tariffs apply when a journey starts or ends outside its area. Aena's page on taxis at Barcelona Airport lists the ranks at T1 (floor 0) and at the arrivals of T2A, T2B and T2C, and says the only official taxi in Barcelona is black and yellow.

Barcelona Airport to Girona taxi fare

Expect about €191 to €206. The 2026 intercity tariff published by Girona city council sets €0.82 per km on weekdays from 8:00 to 20:00 and €0.89 per km at night, at weekends and on holidays, plus a €4.60 airport supplement.

Is this the same as going to Girona Airport?

What costs extra, and what should you agree?

• Tolls: paid by the passenger, including the taxi's return, according to the STAC. On a trip this long, ask whether the planned route uses them.
• Waiting: €22.47 an hour by day and €24.32 at night, useful to know if your flight is delayed and the driver waits.
• Groups: a €4.60 supplement for 5 to 8 passengers.
• Fixed prices: 17 of the 30 services say on their websites that they offer them, and we do not publish company prices. Ask for the amount and what it covers in writing.

The same STAC page explains that the journey is a closed circuit, counted back to the starting point by the shortest route unless you agree otherwise. That is why 113.4 km of road is billed as about 227 km.

How long does it take, and when should you leave?

About 88 minutes without traffic. The way out of El Prat to the north can fill at peak hours and with rain. If your flight is delayed, tell the company: with a booking and a flight number, the driver adjusts to the real landing time.

For a meeting in Girona, leave a margin of half an hour. For a late-night trip, check that the company runs 24 hours; 27 of the 30 say so on their websites.

Taxi or public transport?

With little luggage and no hurry you can look at trains and coaches on the operators' own sites, for example Renfe. The taxi suits small groups, late arrivals, children and heavy bags, because the price is per vehicle. For six to eight travellers see large taxi Barcelona.
