Taxi from Barcelona to Girona Airport
Many readers search for a Girona Airport to Barcelona taxi after a low-cost flight into Girona-Costa Brava. The airport sits in Vilobí d'Onyar, outside Girona itself, and the trip to Barcelona is a long intercity ride, not a city fare. The AMB states that the Generalitat's tariffs apply when a journey starts or ends outside the metropolitan area.
Our figures use Barcelona as the starting point, as in the fare box above. The road distance is the same in the opposite direction, so the order of magnitude holds; ask the company for the exact price of a pick-up at the airport.

How do taxis work at Girona-Costa Brava Airport?
Aena's page on getting to Girona airport by taxi says taxis at the official stand have a taximeter for trips to towns in the province and to Barcelona. The fare shown excludes supplements, and the page lists no fixed prices.
It also says luggage that fits in the boot or roof box travels free. Any complaint about price or refused service goes through the complaints book the taxi must carry.
Why does the fare count the return trip?
Catalan intercity journeys are applied as a closed circuit. The STAC explains that the route is counted back to the starting point by the shortest way unless both sides agree otherwise, and that the passenger pays any toll, including the driver's return. That is why 97 km of road is billed as about 194 km.
If you agree a fixed price in advance, ask whether it already includes the toll road, as the cost of the toll is a common surprise on this route.
How long does it take, and what are the alternatives?
About 76 minutes without traffic. If you travel alone with a small bag, public transport is likely cheaper, and you can check coach and train options on the operators' own websites, such as Renfe. A taxi pays off for three or four people, with a lot of luggage, or when you land late.

What to ask when you book
Because the airport is some distance from the town, make sure the company knows exactly where you will be: the arrivals hall or the taxi stand, and the number of your flight if it is a pre-booked pick-up. If your plane lands late at night, confirm that the driver will still be there. A taxi that was booked but not told about the delay may leave, so a mobile number on both sides is worth having.
Give your flight number, so the driver can follow the real landing time, plus the exact address in Barcelona, the number of passengers and bags, and how you will pay. 11 of the 30 services mention card payment on their websites.
26 of them say they run 7 or 8 seat vehicles, and 16 mention wheelchair-adapted taxis. For a larger group see large taxi Barcelona.
