Why does the meter count the way back?

The tariff is applied in a closed circuit. As the STAC summarises, routes are counted to the starting point by the shortest way unless the parties expressly agree something else, and the service is contracted for the whole vehicle. The kilometres are therefore billed in both directions.

If a company offers a fixed one-way price, it is a commercial agreement and not the meter. Ask what is included. The same STAC page says tolls go to the user, including the return leg, so a quote without tolls can end up higher than it looks.

How long does the trip take and when is it worth it?

The routing gives about 76 minutes without traffic. On a Friday evening or a summer Saturday allow more, and ask the driver for the route they will use. Ask the company which rate (day or night) it will apply to your departure time and put it in the quote.

A taxi pays off for four people with luggage, for early or late departures, or when you need a door-to-door service. For one person with a light bag, public transport is cheaper. Which size of taxi should you ask for?

Up to four passengers is a normal taxi. From five to eight, ask for a large taxi and expect the €4.60 supplement. According to their own websites, 22 of the 30 services here offer 7 or 8 seats and 10 mention wheelchair-adapted taxis.
